Bragging About You

One of your teachers at sadik was bragging to me today that at lunch time she is constantly chasing the other children back to the lunch table, but you just sit and eat like you're supposed to! She also bragged that while the other kids bicker with each other, you treat everyone kindly and sweetly! I am not surprised because I know what a sweet little girl you are!
At home, you played ball with Daddy and me for the first time!

Katelynn's Birthday

We celebrated Katelynn's 1st birthday today (she was born exactly a week after you)! You had so much fun at the park, and we ran into Dexter from our birth class too! What a small world!

Belly Button

You discovered your belly button today and you also discovered how fun it is to play with!

This is the Way we Brush our Teeth

We brushed your teeth for the first time today (all two of them), and you loved it! You smiled the whole time the toothbrush was in your mouth!

Toddler Room

You have loved your time with Ms. Shannon and Ms. Emilia in the infant room, but now that you are ONE and fully toddling it is time to move on to the next room - The Toddler Room! In the infant room you had to entertain yourself but there is lots of fun to be had in the toddler room - reading stories, singing songs, art projects, outside time, family-style lunching, and a quiet afternoon nap for all! Ms. Barbara will be taking care of you until you are two and ready for the twaddler room!

Safe Keeping

On our daily walk after sadik today you were collecting rocks and berries and handing them to me for safe-keeping. Every once in a while you would open my hand to make sure your treasures were still there!

Your 1st Birthday Bash!

Today is your first birthday party! Usually you nap for 2 to 3 hours in the morning, but of course today you took a very short nap. We were hoping that you would nap on the long drive to LA (in the crazy downpour that just had to happen today), but that didn't happen either. We were nervous about how you were going to feel at your party...but you were a STAR! You frolicked around in your poofy party dress and smiled and socialized and had a grand old time! When your cake came out you helped me blow out your candles and then you laughed throughout the entirety of the super long version of Hava Nagila that followed! Then as soon as the song ended, you snuggled up on me and went right to sleep, just like when you were a newborn! It was a fabulous celebration!

Your lady bug smash cake, made just for you! No one got to see it and you never even tasted it because you were fast asleep!

Milk Does a Body Good

Now that you are the big ONE, you are allowed to have real cow's milk! Today you got your very first taste and you loved it!
You learned two new words today - "ba" for ball and "mo" for more. You named every ball you saw and let me know whenever you wanted more of whatever you were eating! It's so fun to hear your little voice!

And tonight you drifted off to sleep in your crib on your own without your nighttime bottle for the first time! What a big day!

Happy 1st Birthday!!!

Mommy and Daddy woke you up with a "Happy Birthday to You!" song! Then you went to sadik and Ms. Emilia sang for you also! When you came home all of your grandparents came over to help you celebrate, watch you eat your first cake, and sing the song to you one more time! You are so loved by everyone! Even the neighbors left you lots of presents on the doorstep!

You had the best time opening all of your presents and reading all of the cards! Your favorite card of all was the one Daddy got for you which sang "A very happy birthday, to you!" every time you opened it!

After dinner, we brought you your very first cake! You weren't sure what to do with the big creamy cylinder in front of you so we dipped your hands in it thinking you would love licking off the frosting...but you just wanted the mess off of your hands! Haha! You are such a neat one-year-old! You also starting nodding "yes" today (you had "no" mastered a long time ago)! 

 Happy 1st birthday, my love! Without even trying, you have brought so much joy into our lives! And we cannot wait to continue to watch you grow into the amazing person you will become! I love you with all that is in me!

If You're Happy and You Know it

On our way home from sadik, I sang "If You're Happy and You Know it" to you and when I sang "clap your hands" you clapped your hands, and when I sang "blow a raspberry" you blew a raspberry, and when I sang "twirl your lips" you twirled your lips with your fingers! It's so fun to play with you!

Here you are also debuting your very first ponytail!

Pi Day

Since you are stuck with a Mommy who is a math teacher, you get to celebrate pi day (March 14 because pi is 3.14)! Lucky you! You don't seem to mind, cutie pi!

Bugs

On our daily walk with Riley upon your return home from sadik, I showed you a roly poly and you were super intrigued! You followed it around with your finger and giggled away!

Around the Corner

We were playing in your room today when you stood up, walked all the way across your room, out the door, and turned the corner to head for the master bedroom! Wow!

Shoes

You figured out how to take off your own shoes today!

Sharing is Caring

At sadik most of the babies and toddlers spend their day fighting with the other kids over toys, but not you! When I was getting ready to leave after dropping you off I watched you playing for a bit. A baby crawled over to you to check out your toy, and you just handed him the toy! You even pushed the buttons on it to show him how it works! I had such a proud mama moment!
